This washed geisha is a perfect match for a hot summer day 



This washed Geisha is grown at an altitude of 1800 - 1900 m above sea level in the province of Caranavi. Juan Carlos grows citrus trees and coffee under shade on his 3 farm.

Once harvested when perfectly ripe, the coffee is dry fermented for 22 hours and then dried on African beds for 7 days.

The San Juan farm is located in the central part of the Sud Yungas province, in the department of La Paz. La Paz is a very rugged department. There are several rivers, including the Boopí and Cotacajes, and waterfalls up to 400 m high. The climate is hot, with an average temperature of 28°C and humidity of 70%.  

The Farm

The San Juan farm covers an area of 3 hectares. 1.7 hectares are dedicated to coffee and the rest to citrus fruits. The coffee grows in the shade and Juan makes his own 100% organic compost, which he applies to the coffee trees after each harvest to provide the necessary nutrients for his trees.  




Juan Carlos was born in the province of Camacho. He moved to the Yungas in 1992 to work with his father, a coffee grower. In 2004 he bought his own land and planted a very disease-susceptible variety. Rust destroyed his entire crop and he had to start from scratch. He decided to plant more resistant varieties such as Catuai. Juan also planted the Geisha variety to produce coffees with different profiles for the region. Since then, specialty coffee has allowed him to make a decent living and provide for his three children.
